Our Director - Adam Wurst

The Metropolitan Choir is very pleased to announce the appointment of our new director, Adam Wurst! We anticipate a wonderful 2021-2022 season singing under his leadership. He brings past connections with our choir as well as impressive credentials which we trust will inspire and be blessed by God as we make music together.

Adam Wurst holds a Bachelor of Music in Education from Western Michigan University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University. He teaches vocal music in Allendale Public Schools, working with more than 250 students each day in gender-based and mixed choirs as well as soloists and small groups. Adam is a passionate supporter of students finding their voice through performance, expression, and student leadership opportunities. As the Music Department Chair, Adam strives to bring purposeful curriculum design through a collaborative and student focused environment, cultivating growth and leadership through peer mentoring, small and large group coaching, and creative expression projects. He has maintained an active private music studio for voice and piano throughout West Michigan for more than 20 years. Adam also serves as an adjudicator for the Michigan School Vocal Music Association working with choirs at the district and state level throughout Michigan. 

Adam is also a passionate supporter for literacy and interdisciplinary learning. He serves as Allendale Public School’s coordinator for elementary summer programs in math and literacy. His work with staff and student interns has been recognized for creating an atmosphere of joy, interpersonal connection, and creativity and effectiveness. He has worked closely with co-founders Pam Allyn, award winning author and creator, and Yalitza Vasquez, bilingual education expert and EdTech specialist, as a pilot district for DeweyCommunity.com, a family learning solution created by, and for, caregivers speaking to the hopes and dreams of family, work, school life alignments.
